Risk of Rain 2: new survivor revealed, first content update coming this month

Yesterday, the developers of Risk of Rain 2 appeared on IGN Live to discuss the game's Scorched Acres update - the first of many free content updates leading up to the full release of the game next year - and to reveal its new playable character, Rex.
Rex is a robot-plant hybrid whose abilities use its own health as a resource, consuming and restoring it as attacks are used. The update's new map was also shown off in this presentation.
Today, the developers revealed more information on Twitch @ E3, including the new boss introduced by this update.
The Scorched Acres update will also introduce new items and enemies that have yet to be revealed. According to the developers, the update will be released before the end of June.
