Robot battle arena Aftercharge is opening up its doors for free this weekend

When MOP reader and streamer Hikari tipped this story to us, I initially misread it as ArcheAge – that’s how thoroughly I had forgotten about this game. But as it turns out, we’ve not only covered it but streamed it ourselves. I’m talking here about Aftercharge, a multiplayer mini-MOBA – not quite an MMO, but it’s definitely got the small-scale online arena concept on lockdown (and doesn’t the art style just remind you of WildStar?).

“Aftercharge is a 3 vs 3 competitive game pitting invisible robots against an invincible security squad in high-octane tactical skirmishes. Six glowing structures called extractors are at the center of the gameplay and serve as the objective for both teams. The robots have to coordinate their attacks, create distractions and sneak around to destroy them. The enforcers on the other hand have to cover as much ground as possible and use their abilities wisely to spot the attackers and stop them before they can destroy all of the extractors.”

Invisible robots, people. Now, the game is 20 bucks on Steam, but if you’re interested in giving it a go, dip into the game’s Discord channel: Developer Chainsawesome Games says it’s running a free play event from February 21st to 24th for everyone with a Steam account.

Here’s our hands-on with the game from over a year ago:
