Astroneer might be right down your alley. It's more of a crafting sim. No alien life so to speak. Just your little astronaut exploring planets. Looks nice though.

Star Citizen has some cool modules out.  Has great dog fighting.  Check them out.

I recommend Elite Dangerous but only with friends imo. It's really open and has little to no direction, it's entirely up to the player.
