New Alienware 17 R2 can't find RAID Option for SSD M.2

  • 1

Hi, i just received my brand new 17 R2, i placed inside two Transcend MTS800 120GB each but i cant find how to create a RAID 0 app with it, no option for RAID on SATA selector on BIOS just AHCI, Intel Smart Response :|

Any ideas or tutorials?

There's no RAID option in the new laptops (if not in BIOS, then not anywhere). Not sure why either.

:O can't believe...

Why does Dell all the weird choice now? All other laptop manufacturers have gaming laptops that can use disks in raid...Desktop PCs and laptops have been able to use raid for several years now.

Seems that they will release a new BIOS to fix that , hope so :|

Seems there are too many issues in the bios for the new Alienware laptops. Not acceptable. Dell has had ample time to fix these Alienware laptop models. (Operate as they should). Dell was the last laptop brand to launch new models with gtx970 / 980m graphics card ..

Don't hold your breath. I take everything Dell says with a whole shaker's worth of salt. They have seemingly been intent on ruining everything that differentiated themselves from the rest of the gaming laptop manufacturers.

No solution for this on new A02 Bios version... is it so hard to restore an axed feature Dell???

Have not Dell updated the new bios with raid support ? What has changed in the new bios except hybrid fix?

From the notes...

[BIOS] Fix: 1.None Modify: 1.None [EC] Modify: 1.Modify Charger IC control for 180W AC throttling. 2.Using average temperature even fan is max rpm.

Should come in the next BIOS or two. I mean, CPU and GPU performance do take priority over RAID.

It makes sense .. But should have been fixed before the launch of the new models.

Dell should also make a fan tweak inside the Alien Command Center.  For the previous version of Alienware laptops and the new one ... It can not be that difficult.  . It had become very popular ..

Edit:  Using average temperature even fan is max rpm; What do you mean? Google translate :(
