A new Marvel card game was announced at Gen Con and it will be a cooperative Living Card Game for 1 to 4 players:

Marvel Champions: The Card Game sees players taking on the roles of the iconic heroes of the Marvel universe as they try to stop infamous villains from enacting their devious schemes. With  over 350 cards, 100 tokens, five hit point trackers, and more, The Marvel Champions: The Card Game Core Set gives you everything you need to start your journey in the Marvel universe. Choose to play as Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and She-Hulk! Combine your powers to take down the rampaging Rhino, the devious Klaw, or the utterly terrifying Ultron!

About the gameplay:

The game is played over a series of rounds consisting of two phases: the player phase and the villain phase. During each player's turn in the player phase, players thwart the villain by taking a variety of actions, including:

  • Playing an ally, upgrade, or support card from their hand.
  • Using their alter-ego’s basic recovery or their hero’s basic attack or thwart power.
  • Using an ally card they control to attack an enemy or thwart a scheme.
  • Using an Action ability on a card in play or an event from their hand.
  • Asking another play to trigger an Action ability on a card they control.
  • Flipping their identity card to its hero or alter-ego form. (This option can only be performed once per turn.)

The game won't focus purely on heroes, as players will also spend time playing as their alter-egos (for example somebody playing as Iron Man will also play as Tony Stark) and this feature is present for all super heroes.

If you want to learn more about the game, you can do so by using the link above.

The game will cost $59.95 and is already available for pre-order, here.
