According to the South China Morning Post, EA and Tencent currently in negotiations to bring Apex Legends to China. Western companies like EA are required to have a local partner in order to publish games in China, hence the possible cooperation with Tencent. This would make the third blockbuster battle royale Tencent is publishing in China, with Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds already under its belt.

The Chinese internet giant’s tie-up with EA, however, has not been confirmed at this stage, said the person, who requested anonymity because the information is private. Speculation about such a partnership initially spread on Chinese microblogging site Sina Weibo.

Tencent and EA did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Of course, this also assumes that Tencent can get Apex Legends past the Chinese gaming regulatory board which has been slow approving new games for China.

What do you think the implications of a possible Apex Legends arrival in China will have on Fortnite and PUBG?

Probably won't make it, and another clone gunna pop up instead...

Why don't developers just straight up develop the game in China first then bring the game out to the rest of the world? Seems much easier to bring stuff out of China than to bring stuff in...
