Alienware's new Command Center comes with CPU, GPU and memory overclocking options

  • 347

Dell's gaming-oriented arm is back with its all-in-one system utility known as Alienware Command Center, which now integrates overclocking options. As usual, there are two sides of this story, and many of those using Alienware notebooks or desktops that are just one or two years of age will not be able to enjoy all the goodies of the updated Command Center. Hopefully, Alienware will add more devices to the list of fully supported hardware in the coming months.

Alienware has recently posted the following message on Twitter: "AW Command Center is now better than ever! Now we offer CPU, GPU and memory overclocking options. Fine tune your system for optimal performance safely and easily with this updated overclocking utility. Available on current-gen #Alienware platforms with compatible components."

All the above is fine, but it raises a lot of questions regarding the supported gaming notebooks and desktops. As you can see in this video, the Alienware Command Center can be installed on Dell G-series and non-Alienware systems, but many handy features — such as the aforementioned overclocking capabilities — will not work.

Did you get your hands on the latest Alienware Command Center update? Feel free to give us all the details needed to get a better idea on what this piece of code and the range of compatible hardware. We are sure that Alienware or its co-founder Frank Azor will come up with more details in the near future, so stay tuned.

When it first came out  my  17R5 download it  then i started to have issue the awcc would not load sometimes then when it would load..the thermal profile would not load and the overclocking settings would not load ether.. so i contact support. he romotey look thru my system.. uninstall it then reinstall it.. it still did not work right but he told not to worry it will be fix shorty.. 1 week later it work fine no issue .. here is my thoughts  i have the I7-8750H processor so somehow that has lockdown my system i can not overclock the processor ....video card..and memory so its just a useless feature to me i can see the temp of the processor and video card .. but i can also do that in the thermal setting .. ..I fill like it if alienware going to advertise a laptop that describe it by being overclockable then it should be.. its almost like its false advertising  they should say that only the ones that are able to not the ones like mine with the I7-8750H

That CPU cannot be overclocked. Are you saying you can't overclock your GPU and/RAM either just because the CPU cannot be overclocked?.

I just got my 17 R5 and my AW988 Headset.  I cannot find the headset in the command center.

Can't say from personal experience (because I don't own the headset, and yes I'm jealous!), but it looks like you need an additional piece of software called Alienware Headset Center (AWHC) in addition to Command Center (AWCC).

I think i need to remove all of AWCC and related items and start from scratch. the only thing im getting is the alinewaqrefx controls..

i have an area 51 R4 with a 7820x processor and dual 1070s. the bios over clock is solid but i dont have much in the way of thermal controls while the system is up and running so im relying on the software to do its job with fan management. I have to rely on 3rd party tools to get the temps etc.

So it looks like AWCC is still sensitive like the Pre Dell Area 51 7500s.
