Valve Forgot How Not To Sound Racist Nowadays
Valve are hoping that their next big thing is going to be Artifact, their particular take on the digital collectable card game set in the DOTA universe, but somewhere along the way they forgot to not sound racist.
Eager to talk about their card design philosophy and how cards will interact and augment each other, they revealed a card called Crack the Whip. That seems innocuous enough, but when you read the card description, it’s less so:
Modify a black hero with “After you play a black card, give this hero and its allied neighbors +2 Attack this round.”
This card packs a big punch immediately and then keeps on punching. When you play Crack the Whip, it triggers once right after it’s played. If you play an Untested Grunt next to the whipped hero it will trigger again, and the Grunt will receive the bonus. pic.twitter.com/qXflFpdOZb

Whipping black heroes? Yeah… That went down well.
The card has since been renamed:
Crack the Whip has been renamed to Coordinated Assault.

Artifact is coming out on 28th November, with a beta this month in October.
