PUBG devs are suing other developers because of frying pan

  • 1338

PUBG Corp. last year raised the question of whether one game can be synonymous for one genre. That is when they called out Fortnite Battle Royale devs for unauthorized copying, but everything was left on quarreling, because it would be crazy to go to court, since PUBG uses the engine that was created by Epic Games. However, PUBG Corp. still went down on lighter prey, company NetEase that created two battle royal games for cell phones: Rules of Survival and Knives Out. PUBG Corp. claims that they have violated their copyright and that they were not fair in the business "match".

PUBG developers claim that these two games have too many similarities to their game - from lobbies with other players, jumping from aircraft, circle shrinking on the map, bombing zone, and so on. It is controversial that the use of frying pan as a weapon is what PUBG Corp believes to hold exclusive rights, claiming that former shooters did not use frying pan as a weapon. Reddit in this quickly denied them, pointing out that Team Fortress 2 had frying pan as a weapon seven years before PUBG appeared.

In any case, PUBG Corp. is asking from the court to forbid all distribution of games Rules of Survival and Knives Out, as well as similar titles, and a compensation of 150 thousand US dollars. Whether there are similarities between games, judge by yourself. On the left is the Rules of Survival, on the right PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

It looks exactly like PUBG but good luck suing a Chinese company.  They play by their own rules.

Planetary
Well that's not nice and I think they won't get much from suing
