CD Projekt Red winks that Cyberpunk 2077 will be their next blockbuster franchise
The Polish development team CD Projekt Red is primarily known for bringing closer to gaming community presentation of novels by Andrzej Sapkowsky through The Witcher trilogy that ended in 2015 with one of the most admired titles in the history of video games. Since the ambitious The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt proved to everyone that the Polish were serious about their work, no one expected that they would invest less effort in a new project called Cyberpunk 2077, and the developer itself agrees.
Namely, during this year's Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar held in Stockholm, director of CD Projekt Red said that the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 would be somewhat more ambitious than Witcher 3 and that the development team hopes it will grow into the next "blockbuster franchise". Specifically, Adam Kicinski claims that Cyberpunk will be "a real RPG ... the new Witcher 3, although with more ambition".
"We're working on a new universe, the futuristic one. We believe that it is very appealing to players, not just to RPG fans - but it's a real RPG, like Witcher, like Witcher 3, for a mature audience. It's handmade, detailed, with an open world and an open type of gameplay," said Kicinski.
Although it is well known that all the details about Cyberpunk have been kept under the golden key since 2012 when it was announced, the rumors are spreading that this year game will be presented at the E3 ceremony and that behind the closed doors some will get the privilege to play the demo version.
