Gang Beasts Finally Graduates From Early Access, Now Available For PC

Boneloaf and Double Fine recently announced that Gang Beasts has finally, finally come out of Early Access and is now available for purchase on PC and PS4 for $19.99. The digital release of the game is being celebrated with a 20% off discount on the PC version, allowing you to only have to pay $15.99 for the game.

PlayStation 4 owners will have an opportunity to get their hands on a physical release of Gang Beasts for $29.99, or you can grab a $40 vinyl soundtrack of the game from the iam8bit.com store.

The physical version includes a reversible premium cover slip, along with randomly colored discs, and a secret bonus insert. Additionally, the physical copy of Gang Beasts is region free, so you don’t have to worry about being American, Canadian, European, or Australian in order to get your hands on the disc and play it on your PS4.

The final version of the game includes all new modes beyond the typical four-player battle royales. You can participate in 2-vs-2 soccer matches, cooperative modes, and even survival modes. You can check out the all new launch trailer for the game below.

Those kids don’t look mixed.

Anyway, after you customize your gang member, the object of the game is a lot like Super Smash Bros, where you’ll need to throw your opponents off the platform to win. You can punch, grab, slam, and drag your opponents off the platform, just like Rich Swann dragged his wife around on the highway until he landed himself in jail.

The segment with the players fighting on the two trucks reminds me of the opening sequence from Born to Fight.

Don’t expect any high-class kung-fu work from the players involved, though.

The user reviews aren’t too kind to this game. It’s one of the rare cases where a lot of people prefer the glitchy, unpolished Early Access version as opposed to what’s there now. Some have stated that the online matchmaking doesn’t work, and that some of the options have been simplified and dumbed down to the point of no longer being as fun as it used to be.

Anyway, if you preferred the old glitchy version you might be able to find an older version on the highway of raging rivers. If you want to pick up the finished version, you can either get the physical copy for the PS4 or a digital copy from the Steam store.

Seems a decent coop game but the PS4 version should have been a bit cheaper with that discount!

I was a beta tester when they rolled out the early multiplayer beta. Had a chance to play this game multiple times with 3 other player, 4 in total and it's extremely fun with friends. We have to try it again in the near future on movie nights.
