Activision claims Infinite Warfare has fall short because it did not portrayed the right Call of Duty atmosphere

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare found itself on unstable terrain as soon as it was announced, but despite the negative reviews from the audience, this title was sold in an enviable number of copies. However, for Activision this figure was not good enough and it was a major disappointment, especially when compared to the sales of the previous Black Ops III.

Eric Hirshberg, director of the American publishing house behind the mega popular CoD franchise, recently admitted that the last year's sequel in the universe failed to fulfill, let alone outpace sales expectations because it "ran into the fence of creativity" of the whole franchise. "At the end of the day this title simply did not provide that real Call of Duty atmosphere. If nothing else, Infinite Warfare has significantly boosted the demand for warfare on land", said Hirshberg.

Fortunately for the publisher, returning to the old days of warfare proved to be a great move since Call of Duty: WWII during the first weekend after its release earned more than 500 million dollars, and Director of Activision claims it is because "this the game in which players for the first time fell in love with, and was placed in the period of time in which they first fell in love."

Also because it had to compete with BF1, a truly original idea unlike the rehashed COD future warfare.
