The British start-up attracted $ 502 million to create large-scale VR-simulations

Improbable - a British startup aimed at creating large-scale virtual worlds, was estimated at one billion dollars (because you can estimate it even if you do not have anything), after it attracted $ 502 million of investment from Japanese SoftBank. This investment is the largest investment in a private British company. This does not mean that the company has already allocated half a billion, but it is already on the list of elite techno companies.

The startup was founded in 2012 by Herman Narul and Rob Whitehead - a pair of Cambridge graduates. Their company was aimed at providing software that can support complex and interactive virtual worlds. This digital infrastructure - if indeed it will really be created, is intended for video games, virtual spaces and complex simulations for industries and governments.

The first version of the software company is called SpatialOS. As reported by Wired, at the moment it is already used in a number of not very well-known MMOs - Worlds Adrift and MetaWorld. The company assures that SpatialOS will perform all the heavy server work and provide the technical infrastructure, allowing even small teams to create extensive, ambitious titles.

The most interesting thing in the product Improbable, is the simulation of multi-level structures - from the infrastructure of a large city, to the interaction of drugs in the human body.

And then someone complains about Star Citizen?

I saw the image at the top of the post and thought "that looks like Worlds Adrift", and then discovered it was.  I've been following that game's development for a while, but had no idea Improbable was involved with it.  That investment and estimated worth are ridiculous, I hope they produce things to justify that value :P

Hi fixss seems the Japanese are out for burning some money. It would be nice if you could provide a link to the original source.

"The largest investment in a private British company". That's actually pretty cool in so many ways.

Wait, what? O.o That's surely a lot of money... either they have some groundbreaking stuff ready for reveal or this is the best scam ever :V
