Hello Neighbor Alpha 4 Live

After four months of silence, last Thursday (May 4th), tinyBuild has released Hello Neighbor's latest build - Alpha 4. I was worried that the game was dead since there were no news about a new build (they did do a teaser on April 28th to announce Alpha 4). Thank goodness we got another build. Alpha 4's features showcases a near final house and AI. It also features a new logo, which I'm digging. This build is far more fun than the previous build. In Alpha 3, the game was always pitch dark. The flashlight was absolutely necessary to traverse the entire game. The image below is from Alpha 3 -  so dark!

In Alpha 4 though, we have different times of day, which cycles through every time you get caught by the neighbor.

This is how the almost final house looks like...

Lot more bigger than Alpha 3, right? There's also a windmill on the top but I haven't figured out how to get up there.

As you can see the house is larger and many of the doors are accessible. There are also several secrets to look for. The neighbor for the most part is the same except he's somewhat faster and he's got mad hops. He sometimes leaps to catch you, which is frightening but when he falls off a ledge he gives off this hilarious scream. Also, you can die from falling a large height, which is new. If you fall from the second story or higher, you will die. But to alleviate this, you get umbrellas that let you glide! There's a few umbrellas scattered across rooms.

The object of the game is still the same, get to the basement. Unlike the other builds, this one actually lets you play a short bit in the basement to get to the ending. However, the only way to "beat" it is to complete two nightmares because each nightmare grants you a new power on completion. They can be accessed with the red and green key.

The green key door can be accessed on the first floor of the house next to the elevator. Obtaining the green key requires some parkour to the roof and disabling the magnet room. Here's a hint on how to disable the magnet.

The red key door is a bit trickier. It requires the same setup as the green key but then requires you to do some Mary Poppins to the hanging room on the side of the house. The red key by the way is at your starting location in the trunk of your car.

The red key nightmare has you navigate a small pantry room from the bottom to the top to pull the light switch to wake up. You are tiny and it reminded me a bit of Counter-Strike's de_rats map.

Upon completing it, you get the power to double jump. The green key nightmare is scary and you basically try to get to the end of the classroom without getting caught by the red mannequins (students) or the blue mannequin (teacher). The blue one is pretty scary as it chases you it plays some train horn loop. Use the alternating bells to plan your escape and hide in the lockers until the time is right.

Completing this nightmare will allow you to escape the neighbor's grab one time. Both of these powers should allow you to complete the basement and see the ending, which I won't spoil. So good luck to everyone who is playing it!

A secret I found was the night and day doors. They can only be opened at their respective times.

You need to jam the night door so you can open the day door that's inside. It reveals a room with a calendar date and this box.

August 29th. A green box with an X and 1 on it. Does this mean the game is coming out on Xbox One on August 29th? Or maybe the release date of the game is August 29th and it's coming out on Xbox One too. The Steam page does say the game is coming out this summer. Who knows... A few other secrets I found are the underwater door, the painting door, and planting a seed to grow a golden apple tree. Tell me what other secrets you have found in the game and which are your favorite. I am looking forward to the next build.

Interstellar

Seems like an interesting concept for a game, and it looks good so far, thanks for the update.

After seeing screens I can say that this game looks promising. But I need some gameplay to tell more.
