Masaya Nakamura the father of Namco and Pac-Man has passed away
Yesterday, Namco Bandai released a formal announcement that on 22.1. their founder and a longtime president Masaya Nakamura has deceased. The news were reserved for one week until the funeral was held in the circle of the family, and forgiveness for wider acquaintances will be another time. The cause of death 91 year-old Nakamura has not been confirmed, and at the request of the family is not expected, nor ever be.
During the life Nakamura had a long career filled with laughter and fun. In 1955 he founded the company for rides in amusement parks Nakamura Manufacturing, and only three years later the company has turned into Nakamura Amusement Machine Manufacturing Company or shorter - Namco. In the seventies he bought Atari Namco Japan for half a million dollars and firmly established himself on the market.
But Nakamura will be remembered for the year 1980 when Namco released a game for the arcade Pac-Man that needs no introduction. Even though Nakamura alone did not designed game, he got dubbed the "father of Pac-Man," because he enabled its creation, and the game is officially in the Guinness Book of Records as the most successful arcade game ever. In 2005 the companies Namco and Bandai and have joined forces and since then Nakamura had honorary head position.
To the Nakamura in 2007 was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun for his contribution to the Japanese industry, in 2010 him and Pac-Man were written in the gaming hall of fame in the american state Iowa. His games, including series like Tekken, Soul Calibur and Ride Racer entertained generations, and the Pac-Man is one of the key gaming, as well as cultural phenomenals.
