Anyone running Windows 11?

  • 4

I am not a fan of the centered start button and the weird start menu, but I have been using Windows since 95.

Other than that, some parts seem to run very well. Windows update feels really fast and the Microsoft Store seems faster too. I also don't seem to have the issue where the store keeps trying to update the same apps over and over again.

What do you think of it?

Got the notification a few days ago that my system will handle it for the most part, but there may be some upgrades may need additional hardware. That concerns me a little, as I bought this Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R10 earlier this year 2021. I think I'll wait until I'm able to upgrade, but it would be nice to be able to downgrade if I start to have problems. Don't want to shell out money to upgrade a PC that is up 2 date.

My school sent out a notice to NOT upgrade to 11 because it doesn't work with our learning system yet. Its bugged basically.

My school bought around 40 new Alienware PCs and our IT dept. says they can't upgrade to Win 11. No idea why, just said they can't at this point. Its a real shame, but I guess 11 is way more secure, at least until all the zero days start popping up!

I've been using it for about a month now and there are no problems whatsoever.  I am on a Nitro 5 laptop that I bought 1.5 years ago.  Flawless installation and zero issues since installing.  Actually, the only problem I ran into was printer driver....but that's always a problem when going from one O/S to another (or upgrading).

If only I owned a Tardis.....

Just got yesterday. No problems noted. Install was easiest yet. Have a Rysen Alienware build that's less than year old, seems to have adapted wonderfully. Will post is problems arise.

There's no R in my name.

I've been avoiding the upgrade myself...

My i5-6500 w/32GB RAM cannot be upgraded because it only runs TPMS 1.2 (Yes, I could bypass the TPMS limitation and install it anyway, but why would I? Just to add more web trackers?).

The same as the original poster, I too was worried about the look/feel of the centered taskbar. I admit, for the first day or 2 I found myself constantly looking to the left for the "Start" menu lol, but after a couple days you kind of forget about it and become used to the centered position.

AND... if for some reason you do not like the centered position, you can always move it to the left as usual by going Personalization>Taskbar>Taskbar Behaviors

I'm fine with the middle taskbar as I'm used to flipping between Windows and MacOS.

I still wish there's a way to completely disable the Xbox Game Bar, the old instructions doesn't seem to work as the disable toggle isn't even there anymore. Instead, I've just turned off background recording so it isn't automatically recording stuff... but I still feel uneasy that it is draining resources.
