What do you think about the Coronavirus? And where do you live?

Everybody around me is panicking right now. Coronavirus a.k.a nCoV a.k.a COVID19 is causing unprecedented anxiety everywhere I go.

i'm not so much afraid of the virus itself, to be honest.

but the problem here in my part of germany is, that many grocery stores are out of different stock already.

people panic like crazy and buy everything. noodles, rice and other things are sold out almost everywhere....

I live in the US. Right now the panic isn't terrible locally. Businesses' are still operational and grocery stores still stocked. However, with the CDC releasing a statement yesterday, it kinda threw everyone into a panic. Companies who make protective face masks are struggling to keep up with the demand and therefore rose their prises of these necessities. I know the government is stepping in and putting a stop to companies selling these masks for a higher dollar amount than they are worth.

I did buy some masks just in case and admit, I did pay about $30 more compared to the regular rate. (we bought masks anyway since the husband is a welder so he uses them frequently)

I live in the US. My country hasn't really done anything about the virus at the moment. People in my local area are acting like it isn't a big deal or that it doesn't exist. I'm personally afraid since I have a history of respiratory problems, and my family can't afford a medical bill. I live in an area which is densely populated, so I feel trapped in my own city waiting for the inevitable.

Well, I'm pretty sure you will get treatment for this virus, regardless of your ability to pay.

I live in L.A. - not worried about the virus here in the U.S.  They've done well so far, to contain it as much as possible but it will spread.  I'm confident our medical care will be able to handle it without an issue.  So far, no deaths in the U.S. so thats encouraging.  It will spread though and they've said its here to stay now, like the common cold.  I haven't bought any masks, just being careful to not touch my face, wash hands frequently and don't try to overdue it when I'm tired/stressed because that compromises the immune system too.

In the US, the news is constantly reporting on it, but I think only the germaphobes are panicing. Honestly not sure why the excessive panic, but it would have been great if the CDC didn't just get its budget cut, again.

It's bad and people will have to get used to living different.  Hopefully the virus does not mutate.  I'm on Cimzia so I'm somewhat worried if I get the virus my immune system is suppressed so it wouldn't be good for me at all.

China did was not truthful at first and let this get out of control.  They have done a much better job trying to slow down or contain the virus in the past weeks, however the damage is is past the point of containment.  All of these official numbers by China and Iran can not be trusted so no one really knows how bad it is.

I live in the U.S and don't have a ton of confidence at all with how they have handled this situation.  Lets hope a vaccinne comes sooner than a year and the number of deaths doesn't go past a 2% deathrate in countries wiith strong hospitals.

Travel should have been shut down weeks ago to these countries with hot spots of this virus but it was not.  It is beyond the point of containment at this point. Everyone needs to wash their hands a lot and try to be in as little contact with people as possible.

At this point know one knows how many will die.  It could end up being in the millions before this situation gets stabilized.  It's just unbelievable and the worst event I have seen in my lifetime by far.

I don't even know where it goes from here.  Will all schools cancel for the rest of the year?  Will the nba, mlb, nfl, nhl all cancel their seasons?  This shit is getting crazy.   I recommend check out agenda free TV on youtube, the host Steve has done a very good job the past 3 months covering this virus.  To see it at the point where it is now I can't say it surprises me at all.  The media did a poor job reporting this is a big issue in the U.S over the past 2-3 months.  Stay safe everyone.

I live in the hot zone (Italy). I'll inevitably get infected sooner or later. I just accepted it.

Canada, and I'm not at all worried about the virus. Granted, I think it's gonna get much worse before it gets better, but I'm just not concerned about getting sick. If I do, I'll seek medical treatment. I've been through airports, received expidited shipping from China, and so on, nothing yet.

Apparently it’s just like a bad cold, a bit stronger. It might be serious for people who already have any respiratory issues.
Just wash your hands properly every day, and cover your mouth when you cough.
