Overwatch 2 officially announced
Overwatch 2 has been revealed at BlizzCon 2019, and the second installment in the series will bring some much requested content to the hero shooter like for example a story mode!
The first video released is titled "The Story So Far" talking mostly about the events that took place before and during Overwatch 1:
The world needs heroes now, more than ever. The enemy is out there, getting stronger, so heroes from all over the world are answering the call and joining the fight for the future.
Then we have 8 min cinematic trailer which focuses on Winston, Tracer and Mei confronting the Null Sector attacks in Paris. Of course, they are not completely alone as they get help from old and new heroes alike:
When Null Sector attacks, Winston assembles a small strike team to fend off the invasion. But as hope begins to fade, the team must stand together to overcome the odds.
Lastly we have the gameplay trailer which showcases some new hero designs as well as the new story mode and a new PvP mode (Push):
Overwatch 2 is the globe-spanning sequel to Blizzard Entertainment’s acclaimed team-based game, building upon the original’s battle-honed foundation and carrying forward everything players have earned into a new era of epic competition and team play. Square off against rivals in PvP modes, and explore the Overwatch universe firsthand in all new, fully cooperative missions that challenge the world’s heroes to team up, power up, and take on an overwhelming outbreak of threats around the globe.
About the new content coming to OW2:
- New map type: Push
In Push, a new, symmetrical map type that will launch with Overwatch 2, teams battle to take control of a robot that begins in a central location, then push it toward the enemy base. Either team may take control of the robot at any time. The team that pushes the robot furthest onto the enemy side wins the game.
- Action-packed story missions
Play an active role in the next chapter of the Overwatch saga through a series of intense four-player missions. Fight back against Null Sector, uncover the motives behind the omnic attacks, and confront a rising wave of new threats.
- A visual evolution
Overwatch 2 evolves the look and feel of the world, with more dynamic environments, larger scale battles, additional in-game storytelling events, and improved atmospheric effects and shadows. Heroes in Overwatch 2 will also have a brand-new look, with greater detail and higher fidelity. You can see the new hero designs here.
For now there's no release date as the game's still in early development.
