Red Dead Redemption 2 update: BAD NEWS for fans of Rockstar sequel

  • 37

Read Dead Redemption 2 may have launched to critical acclaim back in October, but there's one issue that Rockstar definitely needs to address in the future.

One of the few complaints about Red Dead 2 is that character movement feels a tad sluggish.

Fans have complained about noticeable input lag, which makes characters harder to manoeuvre on foot.

The clumsy movement system is especially annoying when you're exploring building interiors looking for supplies.

A new video by tech animator Dan Lowe shows that Red Dead 2 isn't as responsive as games like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Spider-Man and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

The games were compared using the same television set and the same hardware.

Spider-Man was the most responsive third-person game with 3ms, followed by Assassin's Creed Odyssey with 4ms and Uncharted The Lost Legacy with 6ms.

Lagging behind the rest (pun intended) is Red Dead Redemption 2, which clocks in at 11ms.

Hopefully Rockstar will improve the lag times with a new update for PS4 and Xbox One, ideally before the release of Red Dead 2 Online.

Thanks to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, fans have a much better idea about when Red Dead 2 Online will launch.

Giving players enough time to fully complete the story and finish any side quests, Rockstar is said to be planning to release Red Dead Redemption 2 Online at the end of November.

Speaking to investors, Zelnick said: "It's way too early to talk about Red Dead Redemption 2 Online, it hasn't released yet.

"It will launch in public beta towards the end of the month and Rockstar will have a lot more to say about it. We're not making any current predictions."

Zelnick also gave an update about the status of a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Unfortunately, however, Zelnick isn't giving much away with regards to a PC release.

"In terms of ongoing releases, Rockstar will talk about what their intentions are going forward with regard to all upcoming products and that the same would hold true for platform,” he said.

"So, in this particular instance, I can’t really give you too much clarity, apologies."
