This forum really needs one....

(Or, if it has one, it needs to be more intuitive to find. Like, say, in my profile or account page.)

You can't unfortunately. What i do to find my own old comments, is that if i remember a certain topic like indie games or microtransactions or something, i google "alienwarearena Sulimen microtransactions" (without quotations, so you won't brute search for the exact words in the search bar), and then most of the threads where i commented regarding game microtransactions will pop as results.

A post history should be needed, not only for us to find our own posts, but for mods and also ourselves to find other people's posts, be it easier track of spammers or just finding a certain topic where you remembered someone saying something you wanted to reply. I'm not sure however if something like this is planned in the future, even though this has been addressed multiple times in the past.

Truer words...

It's really baffling, to say the least, an essential feature like that is actually missing as opposed to too well hidden.

Totally agree. This is a must. Pretty much every commercial and free forum script has the feature to view your own posts. It would be a good addition to Alienware Arena Forums. Using Google is a good workaround to find your own posts, but first it has to be indexed by Google. Their web crawlers has to visit the topics that has your posts, and you have to remember what you mentioned in your posts. +1 for this feature request.

And now I have this sinking suspicion the weekend 'hotel' quest actually sort of depends on the forum missing an essential feature. That's... please tell me I'm wrong.

You're not. The quest's main gig was the fact that you couldn't find Cartire's posts easily by just browsing his profile, and had to go after the hints. The fact that this feature wasn't available to easily complete the quest is the reason why it was more fun in trying to complete it.

It was a fun little cat and mouse game, but it doesn't change the fact yes, a post history on everyone's profile will make life easier in browsing this forum.

Wasn't as bad as I feared. Basically you had to figure out how stuff works to realize who you're looking for, which means you had to have found at least one of the four hints, regardless.

Still, not liking a daily quest relying on the forum being feature-poor.

Of course, the daily quest causing a flood of spammy replies by people trying to figure out if replying was part of the solution is even worse - that makes it a terrible quest to run at a time when the forum seems to be trying harder to curb spammy postings/replies.

Yes. This feature is really needed. As for now I just google 'Alienwarearena username' . If  I want to find my recent comments just use search tools.

You have my vote, though there could be a collateral damage, people downvoting your whole post record because you said something they didn't like. And I'm saying this because I think I've been targeted by some people precisely for that. Which reminds me that I have to PM an Admin about it.

I've been having my posts downvoted by a person or two (majority being my posts in the Grown Ups, so its obvious its one of the few sections they visit besides their spam section) ever since i've stated my issue with a certain section on this forum months ago. Not much can be done besides ignoring it like i did.

I have changed my opinion quite a bit on the posting history since 2 months ago. I actually agree a lot that people will have an easier time downvoting a certain user's posts by just visiting his posting history. So having an actual public view of someone's post history is definitely a no for me. However just having the ability to view our own history of posts should have no consequences and it will be easier for everyone to find their own posts.
