I have read many of the Welcome newb posts. Its sad that most people don't actually read the first 5 posts that would provide them with guidance on "introduction" posts and ARP guidance. There seem to be many "Hi", "Hello" titles with the same content or less. Many times I have responded with the suggestion to read the first 5 posts in the "Welcome" forum. Some few folks do a great job at introductions.
Some suggestions to consider improving the Welcome board content would be: :
1) Have a newb form during the initial sign in that would provide answers to basic questions about the person. These answers could be scripted into an introduction template.
2) If not a form, then perhaps an award of points and a recognition for good introductions
3) Upon finishing signup, providing links to some of the ARP/Leveling posts
On the other hand, this may be too much spoon feeding of the members and maybe they should just figure it out for themselves.
Any other thoughts on this?
Note: I have changed "Noob" to "Newb" after receiving information that "Noob" was offensive to some members. I might suggest to the moderators that they consider doing the same. i.e. renaming the "Noob" level to "NewB" level.(4/29/2018)
