Windows 7 and 8.1 will not be updated if you have a newer processors

Since last year there were talks about how Microsoft will finally "force" all users to install Windows 10, whether they like it or not. It was talked about how the seventh generation of Intel Core processors, the so-called Kaby Lake, will not work with earlier versions of Windows, then that a similar fate also awaits AMD's Ryzen platform.

Even though it turns out that these processors are running on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 systems, to the users of these combinations of this month has been blocked access to system updates. As is always risky to use the system without updates, owners of newer processors is definitely being pushed towards Windows 10.

Blockades of updates on Windows 7 and 8.1 systems its happening to the following processors: Intel Kaby Lake, AMD Ryzen, AMD Bristol Ridge, Qualcomm Snapdragon.

Having been a Windows user for over 20 years, I'm very used to this. Microsoft have exploited their industry position to force an O/S upgrade on me more times than I care to remember and here we are yet again. The only difference is that this time, after 20 long years, the upgrade won't be to another Microsoft O/S. GG MS.

Cheers!

Haven't really been keeping up lately but quick googling makes it look like this only applies to integrated graphics. The CPU it self hasn't deprecated any of the x86_64 instruction set and as such any actual compatibality issues would be artificial. Artificially blocking updates because you upgraded your CPU would definitely cause trouble for MS in the EU and would likely set the stage for another anti-trust suit in the US.

Hoping Windows 10 been a great mount for a long time. But not fair about Microsoft to Oldest windows users. /:

Yeah, you've nailed it here. Forcing people to upgrade by making them (potentially) vulnerable for exploits and bugs is everything but nice.
