Gabe Newell hosting Reddit AMA

  • 202

Those gaming fans among us who wish to pick the brain of Valve president and co-founder Gabe Newell will soon be able to do so in a manner of speaking, by way of the Internet. As it happens, the social news aggregation and web content hub Reddit has scheduled an AMA – that is, Ask Me Anything – for tomorrow with the Valve head on its website.

As confirmed on Reddit, the AMA with Gabe Newell will begin on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 3:00 PM PST, so fans still have plenty of time to prepare their questions in advance for the discussion. Those looking to take part will need to be on the lookout of the Valve head’s username on Reddit, which is “The_Gaben,” as they will have the ability to write and respond directly to him.

As many gamers might expect, one of the primary subjects on which fans will likely fixate during Gabe Newell’s AMA tomorrow will be the current status of Half Life 3 and whether or not it will ever be released to the public. According to a recent report involving an anonymous insider source at Valve, however, the the game has never been far in development, which points to the possibility of the third entry in the series never seeing a release.

Of course, another subject that might generate a lot of discussion during tomorrow’s AMA with Gaben is the likelihood of Valve ever releasing another followup in its zombie shooter series with Left 4 Dead 3. Although Valve has not officially confirmed the game’s existence in any capacity, there have been rumors of the third installment being in production, thanks to a leak from a company employee.

Fans of Valve who are also Reddit users will assuredly chime in and ask Gabe about what the future holds for the company’s digital distribution platform known as Steam. Recently, controller support came to all of Steam’s games, with users now being able to map keyboard and mouse controls to various controllers of their choosing. With that in mind, there could be even more positive changes to the platform on the horizon.

Taking all of this into consideration, with Valve being an umbrella to many projects and products, there’s really no telling what will be the main focus of the AMA with Gabe Newell – if there will be any. Nevertheless, there ought to be plenty of interesting topics and questions that the Valve head addresses and fields tomorrow.

Reddit’s AMA with Valve‘s Gabe Newell starts January 17, 2017 at 3:00 PM PST.

i don't use reddit although i did try it out for a week but the question i would have asked him why is Steam social media  sites like twitter and facebook so useless. all they do is post sales on those and they don't do anything else with them.

And its already done, comments are locked.

I wanted to see a question regarding steam greenlight and how they could improve it more in the future to favor more quality games instead.

Because at its current state, a shit game has as much chance to pass greenlight as a really good one. Mainly because of those steam giveaway groups that promotes their untalented game dev friend that makes a half assed game which passes greenlight from the votes that they bribed with free steam keys.

Totally agree with this. We might get the answer from this question soon.
